Elena Cheah has enjoyed a diverse career throughout Europe, Asia, the United States and Australia as cello soloist and chamber musician, principal cellist of the orchestras of the Deutsche Oper and Staatsoper Berlin and author of the book An Orchestra Beyond Borders (Verso, 2008).
She studied at the Julliard School and the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin with Boris Pergamenschikow. She has coached youth orchestras from Guatemala to the Middle East and is currently professor of cello at the Musikhochschule Freiburg.
